A little about me ……..

Hi there!

My name is Caitlin.

Since I was a little girl, I dreamt about my wedding.

What dress would I wear? Where would it be held? How I want my hair? What would my bridesmaids be wearing? What kind of cake would I have?

You know, the important stuff. πŸ™„

Nothing about who I would marry, what my budget would be, what I would say in my vows.

Nah, that was never in my train of thought.

If you asked my mother about my interest in weddings, she will happily tell you that when I was in my early teens, I made a scrapbook. Yes and it is exactly what you’re thinking. I used to buy wedding magazines. Tens of them every few months. I would cut out ideas, dresses, locations, anything that resembled the picturesque dream wedding I had in my head and I would stick it in the scrapbook. I would even colour code it so the damn thing had more functionality.

Looking back on it now, I adore the kind of teenager I used to be. (A little sad I know, for someone who spent their Sundays filling their wedding scrapbook when the rest of their friends were out playing sports and making out in the used cars they just bought.)

But what I’m saying here is that I loved love. I romanticised romance. But you know what happened to that naive teenager? She grew up. She went through situationship after situationship with boys once she hit 19. Dating apps promised her love when all she got was sex in beds with no bed frame and the occasional date that would get to know her for a few hours and then ghost her before she got in the uber to go home.

Finally, after years of waiting for my Prince Charming, he eventually showed up while holidaying in my small hometown. Two years later and I’m so incredibly lucky to say I’m very happy.

Nevertheless, getting back to The Nuptial Nest.

I have also always had a way with words.

When I was younger, I used to write a lot of poetry. I had a flair for creative writing that started in primary school and by the end of high school, I had developed my writing skills so much that it eventually led me to start writing my songs. My love of writing continued to lead me to get my Diploma in Freelance Journalism where I graduated with a High Distinction for my coursework. From there, the idea of The Nuptial Nest sprouted and I started concocting ideas for it.

I always had thought about the way people were curating their vows today. It blew my mind to see the difference between traditional vows and personalised, more modern vows that have taken the wedding industry by storm, especially over the last 10 years.

I started investigating TikTok videos, (God I love Tiktok), Reddit threads and other Facebook groups and found just how many people struggle with writing wedding vows and wedding speeches. Some know what they want to say and just don’t know how to say it, some don’t know how to structure them, some just have no idea where to even start and they just go blank.

It was after researching and seeing all these queries that I had that entrepreneurial thought and said to myself, β€˜Hey, I could do that.’ That thought led me to create The Nuptial Nest, a wedding speech/vows writing service that crafts words that last a lifetime. I offer writing services that are classified into different packages to provide a more personalised service that caters to your needs.

In terms of the blog, the reason I created this blog was to align my love of writing and reporting with my passion for understanding one of the biggest industries now in the world, the wedding industry.

Eventually, I learnt that the wedding industry is more than just what I dreamed about when I was a teenager.

When it comes to couples organising their big day, everyone has different priorities from if a religious practice will be done at the ceremony to whether people will have a donut wall at the reception. Every couple is different, just like every florist, every wedding planner, every venue manager, every caterer, every celebrant. Everyone’s take will have similar overall ideas but their processes are what I’m interested in and their lived experiences. That is what I’m interested in and that is why I made this blog.

I want these articles to do everything from inform you, to make you laugh, to make you question aspects of your wedding you hadn’t even thought about to ultimately help you create one of the most exciting times of your life.

So lovebirds, nestle here. Read on to see how your big day can take flight, one word and one blog at a time.

Lots of love,

Caitlin
